About This Place
Picturesque sandy expanse located around 3 miles north of Barrow-in-Furness. From the beach there are great views of the beautiful Duddon Estuary and the Lake Fells beyond. --> The big tidal range of Roan Head beach exposes huge sandy flats but also causes strong currents making it unsuitable for swimming. The beach here is an important nature reserve which is home to numerous rare plants and insects along with an estimated 15% of the UKβs natterjack toad population.
π‘ Our Take
Roan Head Beach, nestled in Cumbria's scenic landscape, welcomes dogs all year round. This expansive sandy shoreline is perfect for pups to romp and explore, providing plenty of space for both energetic breeds and more timid companions. With its fine golden sand, it offers a paw-friendly terrain for sensitive paws. Ample parking is available, but remember that facilities are a short drive away, so plan accordingly. While the shallow waters appear inviting, swift tides require caution, making it ideal for beachside romps rather than swimming. Best suited for adventurous big dogs or curious puppies ready to explore, Roan Head promises memorable canine escapades.
