About This Place

Rhossili Beach is a stunning rural beach on the Gower Peninsula - Britain’s first designated  Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).  It offers visitors a three-mile stretch of clean, golden sands backed by dunes and dominated by the stunning Rhossili Downs.  Come here to walk along the shoreline whilst listening to the Atlantic waves crashing onto the sand. Rhossili  was voted Best Beach in Britain in 2010 and Wales’s Best Beach in 2017. --> At the southwestern end of the beach is Worm’s Head, a tidal island.  At low tide a long, narrow causeway is exposed but visitors planning to walk out to the island need to check tidal tables as the causeway becomes submerged very quickly by the incoming tides. There are a number of interesting archaeological sites nearby, including the remains of an Iron Age fort and a World War II radar station.  The wreck of the Helveti, a cargo ship which sank in 1887 can be seen on the beach.  The Rhossili Downs above the beach are popular with walkers and hang gliders.  They provide magnificent views over the coastline and out to sea.At Hillend, 200 metres  from the beach is a popular camping and caravan site.

Looking for a vast, dog-friendly paradise in Wales? Head to Rhossilli Bay! This Gower gem welcomes furry friends all year round, letting them romp freely on its golden sands. Parking's available, just a walk away from the beach. While facilities are limited directly on the beach, nearby Rhossili village has options. Be mindful of the tides; they move quickly here. This expansive beach is perfect for big dogs needing a run, but keep a close eye on puppies near the water. Our tip? Bring a long lead for recall practice in this wide-open space!
