Reighton Beach
π Filey, Yorkshire
About This Place
Reighton is a long, sandy beach just to the north-west of the Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast, looking northwards over Filey Bay. The beach is popular for swimming as well as walking. --> Reighton is an excellent place to stretch the legs, thanks the vast expanses of flat sands that are exposed at low tide and the spectacular views of the cliffs that run along the coastline. These cliffs are rich in fossils and it may be possible to find washed-up specimens on and around the beach. Reighton Sands Caravan Park is situated on top of the cliffs that back the beach. The park can be reached up a ramp from the beach, where there is a cafΓ©. Parking for the beach can be found at the end of Sands Road. A fairly steep path takes visitors down to the beach. Nearby, facilities can be found in the villages of Hunmanby, and Primrose Valley, including an amusement centre. The Bempton Cliffs Nature Reserve can be found to the east of the beach, and the cliff-top walk here offers excellent views as well as the opportunity to see many species of birds, and occasionally even whales and dolphins out in the surf.
π‘ Our Take
Looking for a perfect dog-friendly beach in North Yorkshire? Reighton Beach is calling! Your furry pals are welcome year-round on this lovely sandy stretch. Parking is available (check local charges!), but facilities are a bit sparse, so pack water and poo bags. Swim safety can vary, be mindful of tides. Reighton's wide open space makes it ideal for dogs who love to run, but perhaps less suitable for very tiny puppies due to the expanse. **Tip**: Check tide times before visiting to maximise beach space! Reighton's a paw-some choice for energetic dogs needing freedom!
