About This Place

Hoylake Red Rocks beach is situated on Hilbre Point at the tip of the Wirral peninsula. It looks out over the Irish Sea to one side and the River Dee to the other. In between the two lies Hilbre Island and on the other side of the estuary is Wales. --> The name of the beach comes from the sandstone outcrops at Hilbre Point. It is located about 5 minutes walk away from the more popular West Kirby beach which is home to a large outdoor bathing pool and has lifeguards on duty.As the tide goes out the sands here appear to go on forever. It is possible to walk out to Hilbre Island, although we cannot stress enough how important it is to keep an eye on the tides, which move very quickly here.Red Rocks beach is part of a nature reserve which consists of sand dunes, reedbeds and marsh here. These form a habitat for the rare natterjack toad, several types of orchid as well as being a wintering ground for many bird species.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Red Rocks Beach, location not specified, gets a paws up from DogParkUK for unrestricted, year-round dog access! Your furry friend can frolic freely on the sand. Details on the exact sand type are unavailable, but with no seasonal restrictions, bring them along anytime. As information is limited it is best to check local parking details and nearby facility locations before you visit.
