About This Place

Pwllgwaelod Beach is a small sandy beach that is encircled by cliffs with views across the water to Fishguard Harbour. The cliffs offer some protection from the wind and at low tide there is a good stretch of sand. --> The beach is also one of the starting points of a trek that stretches for three miles following the Pembrokeshire National Park Coastal Footpath which follows the coast around to Dinas Head. The walk takes you up a steep cliff which rises to 465 feet passing plenty of pretty flora and fauna as you go. From here you can take in the views over Fishguard Bay from a different vantage point. Some of the bird species that you are likely to see in the area include chough, fulmar, and peregrine falcon.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Looking for a dog-friendly beach in Pembrokeshire, Wales? Pwllgwaelod is your spot! Dogs are welcome year-round on its sandy shores, perfect for zoomies no matter the season. Parking is available nearby, though facilities are limited, so pack your own water and poop bags. The calm waters are generally safe for swimming, ideal for water-loving pups and even confident beginners. Stay aware of tides, especially with smaller dogs. We think Pwllgwaelod is best for bigger, active dogs who love running free and a good splash, but supervise puppies closely in the water!
