This clean, safe, sandy beach is ideal for families: activities include sandcastle building or rock pooling at low tide. Behind the beach is a grassy area known as Preston Green, which includes a children’s playground. Activities on offer include bathing and swimming but be aware there is no lifeguard service at this beach. There is a slipway to the beach, and steps at various points along the seafront: the tide comes up to the stepped areas.  --> The long seafront has plenty of direct access to the sand. The promenade is lined with cheery beach huts, available for hire. Deck chairs can also be hired. There is a café and a shop right next to the beach. A kiosk on the seafront sells a selection of drinks, hot and cold snacks, and ice cream. The beach itself is spacious and quite flat. A beach wheelchair can be borrowed, and there are accessible toilet facilities but not all are free (some toilets cost 30p, usually via card).
