About This Place

This is a shingle beach which stretches from Greenhill to Bowleaze Cove, a short distance from Weymouth. The waters here are relatively shallow and a reef lies quite close to the shore. The beach offers some good fishing and is popular with sea anglers and dog walkers. It is much less busy than many of Weymouth’s other beaches. --> RSPB Lodmoor is located just behind the beach. The reed beds, salt marshes and wet grasslands of the reserve attract a wide range of birdlife including one of the largest tern colonies in the south-west. A nature trail leads visitors through the reserve. A wide choice of facilities and amusements can be found around Weymouth Central Beach further down the coast.
