About This Place

This beach forms the southern end of the sandy stretch of coastline next to the traditional seaside resort of Great Yarmouth.  Here visitors will find a wide stretch of clean, flat, golden sand, backed by low dunes.  --> Behind the dunes lies the power station which somewhat dominates the view and gives the beach its name.  Some may find the industrial landscape behind the beach detracts from the otherwise pleasant views.  However, on the plus side this beach is less busy than other sandy beaches in the area and if you value having space to spread out, and are intending to look out to sea rather than behind you, this can be a good spot for sunbathing, watersports or splashing about in the waves.  There is a good chance of spotting gannets, guillemots, little auks and other seabirds.  Occasionally seals can be seen, bobbing up and down in the offshore waters.  From the beach, Scroby Sands windfarm can be seen in the distance. Great Yarmouth itself has all the facilities and amusements that one would expect of a town which has been a holiday destination since the 1760’s.  There are two piers, nightclubs, arcades and plenty of cafes, pubs and restaurants.  The Pleasure Beach theme park can be found close to the northern end of this beach.

Hey dog lovers, fancy a trip to Norfolk? We at DogParkUK highly recommend Power Station Beach in Great Yarmouth! It's a fantastic wide, sandy beach welcoming dogs year-round for all the zoomies they can muster. Parking is convenient, making access easy. While facilities are limited directly on the beach, Great Yarmouth town is nearby. Its shallow entry points make it relatively safe for a paddle, but always supervise your pups! This beach is ideal for energetic big dogs who love to run. A word of warning however - it can get VERY busy at peak times, so maybe avoid it for anxious dogs during the summer.
