The pretty little harbour beach of Portmuck is situated on the Antrim Coast on the peaceful peninsula of Islandmagee. The harbour was built back in the 1820s as a place to ship the local limestone. These days it is managed by the National Trust.  --> In addition to the old harbour, the surrounding cliffs and headlands give the bay something of a sheltered feel. This makes it ideal for calm water activities such as kayaking or paddleboarding, or take advantage of the crystal clear water by snorkelling around the rocks. It’s a great spot for a swim or paddle on calm days, though the area is not supervised and conditions can change quickly. Beyond the harbour area you will find plenty of rockpools which are home to a multitude of marine life. There are also a couple of little caves if you explore the cliffs beyond the pier. Thea coastal path running through Portmuck offers short walks with panoramic sea views, and you can often spot seabirds and marine including dolphins, harbour porpoises, seals. Facilities are simple; there’s a small car park, toilets, and picnic areas are close by - but the area is largely undeveloped, which adds to its low-key charm.
