About This Place

Set in a sheltered cove near the north-westerly tip of Pembrokeshire is the pleasant little beach of Porthsychan. What the beach lacks in sand (it is mostly shingle and pebble) it makes up for in charm. --> Here you will find an abundance of rock pools and the waters within the little bay are generally quite sheltered, so swimming is relatively safe as long as you don’t go out too far. To either side of the beach are low grassy headlands whilst at the back are three diminutive waterfalls. Porthsychan is probably best reached via the coast path and there is plenty of parking at the impressive Strumble Head, around 20 minutes walk away. Given the lack of nearby parking the beach here is never busy, despite only being a 10 minute drive from Fishguard.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

We at DogParkUK highly recommend Porthsychan Beach! Found in Pembrokeshire, Wales, this sandy haven welcomes dogs all year round with no seasonal restrictions – woof! The lack of restrictions allows your furry best friend to enjoy the sprawling sands at their leisure. While parking is available, remember to bring your own water, as facilities are limited nearby. The gently sloping beach is great for dogs who enjoy a paddle, but always supervise their swimming. Best suited for confident swimmers or older dogs due to variable currents, Porthsychan promises tail-wagging fun and unforgettable seaside memories.
