About This Place

Long stretch of coarse sand to the south of Porthleven harbour. Shelves steeply meaning there is only a small beach at high tide. --> Swimming here is not recommended at best and often extremely dangerous. The notorious Loe Bar stretch has claimed many lives over the years. Porthleven is known as one of the best surf spots in the UK. However access is difficult and the reef is shallow and dangerous - experienced surfers only.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Porthleven Beach in Cornwall is a fantastic year-round choice for dog owners! The sand is perfect for digging, and there aren't any seasonal restrictions meaning happy pups can roam freely. While facilities are at Porthleven town, a short walk away, this makes the beach quieter. Be mindful of tides as swimming can be dangerous. Parking is available close by. This beach is ideal for energetic dogs who love to run and play fetch, but maybe not best for tiny puppies due to potential waves. Always keep a close eye on your dog around the water! We here at DogParkUK give it a big paws up.
