Porth Towyn Beach
📍 Pwllheli, Gwynedd
About This Place
Porth Towyn Beach is located near the small village of Tudweiliog, on the northern coast of the beautiful Lleyn (Llŷn) Peninsula. This is one of the more remote beaches in the area, but also one of the loveliest. There isn’t a great deal around here except the small caravan site and farm just behind the beach. --> The beach itself is a small bay flanked and backed by gently sloping grassy cliffs. These provide enough shelter from the wind, but the beach is also exposed enough to pick up some surf. The sand at Porth Towyn ‘squeaks’ when you tread on it, as it does at its more famous neighbour, Whistling Sands. There are various parking spots nearby, including at the farm, but it’s often easier just to park in Tudweiliog village and make the 10 minute walk down to the beach.
💡 Our Take
Nestled on the serene coast of Gwynedd, Porth Towyn Beach in Wales welcomes dogs year-round, making it a haven for canines and their companions. The soft, golden sands provide an excellent playground for energetic puppies and even for anxious dogs seeking a tranquil spot. Easy parking is available nearby, although it can fill up quickly during peak times, so we suggest arriving early. While facilities are limited, the beach's gentle waves offer safe swimming conditions for both humans and pooches. An ideal escape for big dogs needing room to roam, Porth Towyn is a cherished retreat that we wholeheartedly recommend.
