About This Place
Blue Flag beach Church Bay (Porth Swtan) on northwest Anglesey takes its name from nearby St Rhuddlad’s Church, visible from the beach, which is accessible at low tide. This beach combines pebbles and sand, bordered by rock pools against a backdrop of steep cliffs. The Isle of Anglesey coastal path runs along the top of the cliffs. The path that leads down from the village to the beach is fairly steep, so not suitable for wheelchairs; it can also be difficult to get pushchairs back up. --> It’s largely a dog friendly beach (some restrictions), and there is a lifeguard service. The restaurant is known for its lobster, and there’s also a café on certain days. The beach also has basic toilet facilities. The nearby (pay) parking is relatively limited in size, but once on the beach, the water quality is excellent, and the beach popular with those who enjoy fishing, sailing, and swimming. Keep your eyes open to see seabirds as well as choughs.
💡 Our Take
Porth Swtan, nestled in Anglesey, is a charming haven for dog lovers and their furry companions. With its soft, golden sands, it's a treat for paws year-round, making it a top pick for playful pups or big dogs needing to stretch. Easily accessible parking nearby lets you focus on fun rather than logistics. While there aren't facilities directly on the beach, nearby amenities ensure a convenient visit. Remember, the waters can be unpredictable, so cautious swim supervision is advised. Porth Swtan is ideal for energetic dogs seeking adventure or anxious pooches needing a tranquil escape.
