Porth Dyniewaid Beach
π Llandudno, Gwynedd
About This Place
Angel Bay, or Porth Dyniewaid, is a small, rocky cove on the Little Orme headland just east of Llandudno. It is not like the neighbouring beaches, with their wide stretches of sand, but rather a hidden, pebbly inlet surrounded by steep limestone cliffs. What draws most people to this spot is the chance to spot grey seals, which often haul out on to the pebbles, especially in autumn and winter. --> Access is via a rough footpath from the coastal trail between Llandudno and Penrhyn Bay. The route is uneven in places and relatively challenging, but the walk offers sweeping views over the North Wales coast. You wonβt find anything in way of facilities here; no signs, lifeguards, or facilities. Itβs more a place to go for quiet the scenery and wildlife, rather than a day at the seaside. The cove has a wild, enclosed feel. Waves wash over the rocks at high tide, although the cliffs give some shelter from the wind, creating a calm space where you can often hear the seals before you see them. Angel Bay is also a good spot for birdwatching, with seabirds nesting along the cliffs. Angel Bay is definitely worth a look if you are walking around the Little Orme. Quiet, a little off the beaten track, it has a raw, natural charm - a million miles from the resort next door.
π‘ Our Take
Looking for a dog-friendly beach escape? DogParkUK recommends Porth Dyniewaid Beach! Found in beautiful Wales, this sandy haven welcomes dogs all year round. The lack of restrictions makes it perfect for playful pups who love a good run. Parking is available nearby, making access simple. Remember, there aren't any facilities directly on the beach so be sure to bring water! With gentle waves, Porth Dyniewaid is great for confident swimmers and big dogs ready for a splash. However, take care with smaller or anxious dogs and keep them on a lead when near the water.
