Porth Dinllaen Beach
π Pwllheli, Gwynedd
About This Place
The beach at Porth Dinllaen is a long sweeping sandy bay sheltered in the lee of Carreg Ddu headland at the northern end of the Llyn peninsula. This beautiful little stretch of coast has largely escaped development, with parts now owned by the National Trust. --> The beach is ideal for paddling, swimming and kayaking, with its calm, shallow waters and little swell. Towards low tide, the sandy stretch widens, with little boats resting on the exposed seabed.Β The village of Porthdinllaen runs along the beach front and is car-free making it a delight for families. One of the best spots to take in the scene is from the Ty Coch (βRed Houseβ) Inn right on the waterside. Porthdinllaen can only be accessed on foot, either along the beach from Morfa Nefyn or via the coastal path. Cars are not allowed down to the beach, which helps preserve its laid-back, timeless atmosphere. The surrounding area is part of a National Trust estate, and the views across to Yr Eifl and beyond are wide and open.
