Porth Dafarch Beach
π Holyhead, Gwynedd
About This Place
The National Trust owned Porth Dafarch is a sheltered sandy beach on the south coast of Holy Island. Nestling below rugged headlands, the beach offers safe anchorage for yachts, rock pools for children to play in and clean bathing water. --> Porth Dafarch offers some good snorkelling in its sheltered waters but the area is best known for its scuba diving with the 1886 wreck of the steamer Missouri situated around half a mile offshore. The beach here is great for those of an active persuasion; there are cycle racks to park your bike and a slipway for launching your (not power-) boat. Strangely for a Blue Flag beach there is no lifeguard service. There is however a beach warden on duty during the summer months. Other facilities include a parking area and public toilets.
π‘ Our Take
DogParkUK recommends Porth Dafarch Beach in Anglesey, Wales, for its year-round dog-friendly access! Its beautiful, sandy shore offers plenty of space for your furry friend to romp, play fetch and enjoy the sea. Parking is available, although it can get busy, and the nearest facilities are a short drive away. The calm waters are ideal for confident swimmers, though always supervise your dog near the sea. Porth Dafarch is fantastic for energetic dogs who love to run free and enjoy open spaces. Tip: check tide times beforehand to maximize beach playtime!
