About This Place
The pretty, sandy cove of Porth Ceiriad is situated on a remote stretch of coast towards the end of the Llลทn Peninsula. Despite being one of the loveliest beaches in the area very few make (or manage to find) this somewhat hidden gem. --> Porth Ceiriad is rarely very busy as it is a fair walk (around 15-20 minutes) from the nearest parking and involves tramping across fields and down steep steps on to the beach. However, it is always worth the effort for the long stretch of golden sand and inviting clear blue sea.The surf at Porth Ceiriad is about the best on the Llลทn Peninsula and can produce large powerful waves that are more suited to experienced surfers than those at neighbouring Hellโs Mouth. Whilst generally quite sheltered the surf at this south-facing beach comes into its own during the winter months.Porth Ceiriad is popular with other watersports too and in the summer the bay here is often teeming with various watercraft, from kayaks up to yachts. The cliffs here are of particular interest to geologists with the folded layers of rocks revealing millions of years of geological evolution.
