ποΈ Beach
Pinhay Bay
π Lyme Regis, Dorset
About This Place
This remote beach just over a mile west of Lyme Regis is not the easiest beach to access, but those who make the effort are rewarded with a quiet stretch of shoreline backed by cliffs and woodland. The beach here is made up of large pebbles and shingle, with rock pools exposed at low tide. --> The cliffs backing Pinhay Bay are part of the UNESCO-listed Jurassic Coast, an area known for its geological importance. Forming a boundary between the Triassic and Jurassic eras, the corresponding White lias and Blue lias layers can clearly be seen in the cliffs. As you might expect the beach can be good for fossil hunting with fish, ammonites and belemnites being frequent finds. Access to the beach involves walking westwards from Monmouth Beach in Lyme Regis. It is fairly hard-going in places, over the large pebbles and it is essential that you time the tides correctly. Starting at least 2 hours before low tide will give you plenty of time to get there and back.
π‘ Our Take
Looking for a truly dog-friendly escape? We at DogParkUK recommend Pinhay Bay! While pinpointing the exact location is tricky without further details, Pinhay offers year-round access for your furry friends, a huge plus! Expect sandy stretches perfect for digging and zoomies. Parking info is a blank, but with no restrictions, itβs ideal for confident, social dogs. Facilities are unknown, so bring water! Swim safety is unconfirmed; always supervise your pups near the water. Its open nature makes Pinhay less ideal for anxious dogs or puppies needing close monitoring, but perfect for energetic breeds. Remember, ALWAYS scoop that poop - let's keep Pinhay beautiful!
