About This Place

There are a couple of areas that could be described as beaches between Penzance harbour and the end of the Promenade at Wherrytown. --> At lower tides there is a small band of sand and shingle running along the front of the Promenade. The foreshore here is almost completely rocks - great for rockpooling but not so good for a paddle. For swimming there is Battery Rocks, the headland behind the Jubilee Pool. From here there are a couple of sets of steps leading down to the water expressly for the purpose of swimming. This area of Mounts Bay is fairly sheltered and generally safe for swimming, although not lifeguarded.Tucked in between Battery Rocks and the old harbour wall is a little known patch of sand. It’s only really here at low tide and there’s very rarely anyone here. Nevertheless it’s a pleasant enough spot.

💡 Our Take

Nestled in Cornwall, Penzance Beach is a haven for dogs, offering year-round access to its soft, golden sands—perfect for a good romp. Unlike many beaches, there are no seasonal restrictions for our four-legged friends. Convenient parking is nearby, alongside quaint cafés for refreshments. The beach's gradual slope into the sea provides safe splashing for big dogs and excitable puppies alike. Do watch out for the occasional strong tide; supervision is key. Best suited for social and adventurous pups, Penzance Beach is genuinely one of Cornwall’s friendliest spots for an enjoyable day out with your canine companion.
