About This Place

Peffersands is a sandy beach with plenty of rocks to the north of the mouth of the River Tyne. It is in a remote location, which means it is quiet and undeveloped. The beach is backed by sand dunes and the John Muir country park. There are a choice of nature reserves in the area, including St Baldred’s Cradle which sits at the southern end of the beach and offers excellent views out onto the Firth of Forth. This all makes for a very tranquil place to go for a walk and watch the birdlife along the shore. --> The beach is reached by turning down Limetree Walk from the A198. There are spaces for parking cars at the end of the road, from where there is a walking track that eventually leads to the beach. There are no facilities at this remote location. The nearest town is Dunbar, about 2 miles away.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Peffersands Beach, nestled in the stunning county of East Lothian, offers a sandy haven for dogs year-round. Its golden sands are ideal for frolicking, while the gentle waves make it a safe spot for a splash. Perfectly suited for big dogs needing a good run, it also provides a peaceful escape for anxious pups with plenty of space. Parking is convenient, though it can fill up quickly during peak times, so be sure to arrive early. The beach's unspoiled nature means facilities are minimal, so bring essentials. DogParkUK wholeheartedly recommends Peffersands as a serene, four-legged paradise!
