Parton Beach
π Whitehaven, Cumbria
About This Place
The small coastal village of Parton lies just over a mile north of Whitehaven.Β The beach here is composed mainly of pebbles and rocks, although at low tide an area of sand is exposed.Β --> The beach is not really the kind of spot to attract many visitors and remains quite undeveloped. Near the railway station, a colourful mural on the side of a cottage welcomes visitors who do make it this far. A tunnel under the railway line lead to the beach. There was a port at Parton since Roman times.Β The Romans built Gabrosentum - a small fort on high ground at what is now the northern end of the village. During the 18th century the port was a busy commercial centre, but a devastating storm in 1795 damaged the harbour and after this the village declined in importance.
π‘ Our Take
Looking for a beach escape? Parton Beach is calling! Located in the beautiful, undeveloped haven of Allonby, Cumbria, this sandy stretch welcomes dogs all year round, making it paw-fect for off-season zoomies! The vast sands offer ample space for energetic dogs to run and play. Parking is readily available along the road. While nearest amenities are a short drive away, the peace and quiet are bliss. Tide times can be tricky; always check before you go! We think it's fantastic for confident swimmers and big breeds who love a good run, but be mindful of the waves for smaller pups!
