About This Place
When picturing the archetypal day at the seaside, Paignton Sands would tick most peopleβs boxes. This long, sandy beach on the English Riviera in south-west Devon attracts thousands of visitors every year. Its calm, shallow waters are great for paddling, and you can hire a boat or a pedalo to get out into the water, or a deckchair to relax and watch the world go by. --> At the heart of the beach is Paignton Pier. With its bouncy castle, giant slide, bumper cars and amusement arcade, there is lots to entertain youngsters. Numerous kiosks and cafes along the pier offer a tempting array of food. Other attractions include donkey rides, a play park, and crazy golf. The beach is situated next to Paignton Green, a good place to kick a ball. Time your visit right, and you might catch the annual boating regatta, carnival and funfair. Paignton Sands is well-adapted for people with additional mobility needs. There is wheelchair access to the pier as well as toilets for people with disabilities. Sadly for dogs (and their owners) there is a ban on the beach between May and September. However, they are welcome on the beach at other times of year, and have a dedicated area on the green.
π‘ Our Take
Nestled in the charming town of Paignton, Devon, Paignton Sands offers a delightful sandy haven for dog lovers. This beach welcomes your four-legged companions year-round, making it a perfect spot for spontaneous beach outings. Its broad, gentle sands provide ample play space, ideal for energetic puppies and big dogs alike. Parking is available nearby, and while facilities are minimal, the town center is a short walk away. Keep a leash handy as the area can get busy during peak times. Always ensure a good rinse for your pup post-swim to wash away the salt. DogParkUK recommends it wholeheartedly!
