Overstrand Beach
π Cromer, Norfolk
About This Place
Overstrand is located to the south east of the town of Cromer. The beach is wide and sandy during low tide, perfect for building sandcastles or relaxing in the sunshine, but at high tide the water comes all the way back to the sea wall. It is therefore advisable to check tide tables before visiting.Β The beach here is a lot quieter than nearby Cromer and is a popular for range of activities such as swimming and surfing. However, there is no lifeguard service. --> Although there is no vehicular access, there is a car park with public toilets above the beach and access is via a long, gradually sloping path.Β Overstrand beach is located along the Norfolk Coast Path and is an ideal place to begin a coastal walk. The path offers some spectacular cliff-top scenery. In the village of Overstrand there are cafes, a pub and a village shop. Just along the coast at Sidestrand the parish church was moved back from the sea front during the 19th century to protect it from coastal erosion, although its tower was left at the original cliff-top site.
π‘ Our Take
Looking for a fantastic, unrestricted dog beach in Norfolk? We highly recommend Overstrand Beach! This sandy stretch welcomes dogs year-round, making it a brilliant choice any time. Parking is available nearby, and while facilities are limited right on the beach, the village offers cafes and shops. The relatively gentle waves make it ideal for confident swimmers, but always supervise your pup. Overstrand is especially suited to energetic dogs who love a good run and a splash. Be aware tides can come in quickly though, so always check tide timetables before you unleash your canine companion for worry-free fun!
