Troon in Ayrshire has two flat, sandy beaches and a harbour. There are seven golf courses nearby. --> The North Beach, otherwise known as Barassie Beach, is the wide expanse of sand stretching north of the marina. The harbour wall provides some degree of protection to the southern end of the beach, and the Barassie Burn enters the sea at the north end.Next to the beach is a large grassy patch with a children’s play area.There are lovely views out over Irvine Bay, Barassie, the peaks of the Isle of Arran and the Firth of Clyde. The bay, which has a big tidal range, and small waves, is a popular destination for kite surfers, windsurfers and other watersport enthusiasts. Parking can be found at various spots along the road which runs alongside the beach. Facilities such as a supermarket and restaurants are close by.
