About This Place

Normans Bay lies on the Sussex Coast between Bexhill and Eastbourne. There is a camping and caravan site adjacent to the beach with a local railway track running behind it. --> The beach is composed of a mixture of sand and shingle which slopes gently down to the water. At low tide an expanse of sand is exposed. Visitors do need to observe the signs which warn of the possibility of sinking-sands.  There is no lifeguard present so it is safest to stay on the shingled area.  This part of the coast gets some strong sea breezes, making it a good place to come to fly a kite. On a clear day it might be possible to see the white chalk cliffs of Beachy Head from the beach. An area of the beach (towards Cooden beach) is sometimes frequented by naturists, although there are no sand dunes here to afford privacy.  Many visitors bring wind-shields for protection from the sea breezes as well as for privacy.  Pevensey Levels nearby, is an area of grassy marshland and contains many species of rare plants and invertebrates.  Public access is not permitted to this conservation area.  Only visitors with permits for scientific studies are allowed there.

💡 Our Take

DogParkUK recommends Normans Bay in East Sussex for a delightful beach outing with your furry friends. Its expansive sandy shoreline is open to dogs throughout the year, making it a haven for those looking to let their pups frolic freely. With no restrictions, it's an ideal spot for energetic breeds and big dogs, but also gently accommodates anxious pups due to its serene environment. Nearest facilities are a short drive away, so pack necessities. Be cautious of the varying tides when swimming. The vast, open space and soft sand make it perfect for enthusiastic fetch sessions and wide-open play.
