Just around Church Point, to the north of the main beach, is Newbiggin East Beach. Backed by the golf club the beach consists of a fairly narrow strip of sand which gives way to rocks beyond the tide line. --> The beach improves the further from the town you head with more sand (and even less people) towards the northern end. The extensive rocks are home to a host of rockpools. East Beach is a good spot for wildlife watching in general with an abundance of birdlife. The beach is most used by dog walkers as it is always quiet and dog friendly.
