Newbiggin Beach
π Barrow in Furness, Lancashire
About This Place
On the A5087 coastal road between Barrow-in-Furness and Ulverston, lies the small village of Newbiggin.Β The beach here is composed mainly of pebbles, with a few rocks.Β At low tide an area of sand and mud is exposed. Β From this peaceful, undeveloped stretch of beach there are views across Morecambe Bay towards Morecambe itself. --> The beach is particularly dangerous for bathing because of the quicksands, shifting channels and rapid-incoming tides of the bay. In 2004, Morecambe Bay hit the headlines when at least 21 undocumented Chinese migrant cockle-pickers lost their lives. There are no dog restrictions here at any time of the year.
π‘ Our Take
Looking for a boundless beach for your best friend? DogParkUK recommends Newbiggin Beach! Located right on the Northumberland coast, your dogs can happily romp on its lovely sands year-round. Parking is convenient. The beach is spacious, perfect for zoomies! Newbiggin-by-the-Sea is nearby for supplies and refreshments. It's generally safe for swimming, but always supervise especially during high tide. This vast beach is brilliant for bigger dogs needing space to run. *Tip: The beach can get breezy, so consider a windproof jacket for your short-haired pal!* Overall, a brilliant choice for active dogs and their owners.
