About This Place

Morecambe South Beach is a sand and shingle expanse, backed by rocky sea defences.Β  The beach slopes gently into the sea, and is a popular place to relax whilst taking in the sea air during the warmer summer months. --> A pleasant promenade, featuring art installations and games for children runs all the way along the seafront.Β  The promenade is also home to the the iconic statue of Eric Morecambe. A walk along the promenade gives visitors an opportunity to admire the view over Morecambe Bay - the largest expanse of inter-tidal sand and mudflats in the United Kingdom.Β  But be warned, the sands of Morecambe Bay are notorious for their dangerous quicksands and fast-moving tides.Β  Great care needs to be taken in the water and children will need to be supervised at all times. Dogs must be kept on leads on the promenade and are not allowed on the beach from 1st May to 30th September.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Morecambe South Beach, nestled in Lancashire, is a haven for dogs year-round. Its wide expanse of fine sand offers a perfect playground for frolicking canines, making it particularly appealing for energetic breeds and big dogs needing a stretch. Ample parking is nearby, ensuring hassle-free access, but do note that facilities are scarce; it’s wise to bring water and snacks. The beach's flat terrain is ideal for anxious or older dogs to explore calmly. Although the water is inviting, always keep safety in mind, especially with strong currents. DogParkUK highly recommends this serene spot for a joyful canine adventure.
