Meols Beach
📍 Hoylake, Merseyside
About This Place
Meols lies on the Wirral Peninsula, between Hoylake and Wallasey, just off the A553. At low tide the small stretch of shingle beach here becomes a wide expanse of sand and mudflats. --> Kite buggying, sand yachting and horse riding are popular here, and in the winter months this can be a good place to go birdwatching. From the shoreline there are views out into Liverpool Bay, and the beach can get some lovely sunsets. The 4-mile long North Wirral Coastal Park runs from Meols Dove Point to the King’s Parade at New Brighton. The park, which is The Wirral’s largest park area, provides a good open space, with acres of dunes, common land and foreshore. It is popular with cyclists, joggers and picnickers.
💡 Our Take
Looking for a beach break in Merseyside? DogParkUK recommends Meols Beach! This sandy expanse welcomes dogs year-round with no restrictions, perfect for pups who love a good run. Parking is conveniently located nearby, though immediate facilities are limited so pack essentials. Be mindful of tides and currents if your dog enjoys swimming; always prioritize their safety. Meols is fantastic for dogs of all sizes, especially those who prefer open space. **Tip:** Bring a towel – the fine sand sticks easily! It's a great choice for energetic dogs needing a good off-leash romp.
