Marine Lake Beach (Weston-super-Mare)
π Weston super Mare, Somerset
About This Place
The lively seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare has plenty to offer by way of traditional British seaside activities.Β The pier and promenade have seen significant investment in recent years, and visitors heading to the top of the long stretch of the main beach and promenade will reach Knightstone Causeway, which links the main beach to Knightstone Island. --> On the opposite side of the causeway is Marine Lake, an artificially maintained cove, built in 1927 to facilitate bathing at low tide. The small beach here is especially popular with families or with anybody wishing to experience the joys of saltwater bathing, without the risks of dangerous currents or sinking sands. Knightstone Harbour has a sea wall and a slipway.Β There are a couple of cafes on Knightstone Island and a choice of bars and restaurants on Knightstone Road, which is a short walk from the beach.
π‘ Our Take
Looking for a proper dog-friendly beach in Somerset? DogParkUK recommends Weston-super-Mare's Marine Lake Beach! Dogs are welcome ALL year round, making it a winner. The sand is lovely for digging, and having the lake means safer swimming than the open sea. Parking is nearby, and Weston's town centre is just a short walk with shops and cafes galore. A top tip: Check tide times so you make the most of your visit! It's best for confident swimmers, but even little paddles will delight pups. Anxious dogs might prefer quieter corners away from the busier promenade. We know you'll have a brilliant time!
