About This Place

Machroes is a long, sandy beach located to the south of the town of Abersoch, and backed by the Abersoch Golf Club. The area is popular for a range of water sports such as sailing, windsurfing, jet- skiing and canoeing. To the north, the beach merges with Abersoch Beach where there is a yacht club. --> At the southern end of the beach there is a small car park, a cafΓ© that overlooks the beach, a picnic area, a shop, and public toilets. The beach, which is accessed via a slipway, is dissected by a number of wooden groynes, which help to prevent erosion. There is also a fairly large car park on the outskirts of Abersoch, a short walk from Machroes Beach. Dogs are banned on the beach from May until September. Further facilities such as restaurants, pubs, shops and places to stay can be found in the former fishing village of Abersoch, which is now a centre for tourism.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Machroes Beach, nestled in the picturesque region of Gwynedd, is a hidden jewel for dog lovers. Open to dogs year-round, its extensive stretches of fine, compact sand make it perfect for play and exercise. The gentle tide ensures a safe seaside splash for both puppies and anxious dogs, providing peace of mind for owners too. Ample parking is available, although it's a short stroll from the nearest facilities in Abersoch village. Ideal for larger dogs needing space to roam, we recommend bringing essential supplies like water, especially during peak summer. Discover freedom with your furry friend at Machroes Beach!
