Half a mile of golden sand in an urban setting, Long Sands offers a range of activities, including surfing and swimming. --> Accessible at both ends via an access road and steps from the seafront. A ten minute walk from both Cullercoats metro station to the north and Tynemouth metro station to the south. The beach is referred to as both Long Sands and Longsands and in our opinion both are acceptable, although I’m sure someone will put me straight on that! Either way the name pretty much sums up what is Tynemouth’s longest beach.

Fancy a proper coastal walkies? DogParkUK highly recommends Longsands Beach in Tynemouth, Tyne and Wear! It's fantastic because dogs are welcome *all year round* on its beautiful stretch of golden sand. The open beach makes it great for dogs who love to run & chase balls. Parking's nearby and Tynemouth village offers cafes & pubs for after. However, be aware of strong currents; keep a close eye on eager swimmers! We think Longsands is perfect for confident, energetic dogs and owners prepared to enjoy a brisk North Sea breeze. Just remember to bring poop bags!
