Longniddry Beach
π Cockenzie and Port Seton, Midlothian
About This Place
Longniddry beach is a mixture of sand and rocks in a quiet, relatively undisturbed setting, despite being a mere 10 miles from the centre of Edinburgh. --> It is popular for water sports, family days out and for walkers. There are nature reserves in the vicinity and the beach is an excellent place for spotting wading birds, particularly when the tide is out. There are also many rock pools along the beach which attract lots of wildlife. The beach is dog-friendly and there is even a dog exercise area. There is a car park at Longniddry Bents along the B1348, from which the beach can be accessed via a short path that cuts through the sand dunes backing the beach. Longniddry Golf Club is located behind the beach and there are a number of other high profile clubs in the nearby area. The town of Longniddry is set a few hundred meters back from the beach and has facilities to cater to visitors such as shops, pubs, restaurants and places to stay. The town is mostly inhabited by commuters and there is a railway station with frequent trains to and from Edinburgh.
π‘ Our Take
Longniddry Beach in East Lothian is a hidden gem for dog lovers. This sandy stretch allows dogs year-round, making it perfect for energetic pups and large breeds that need plenty of room to play. Its smooth, soft sand is ideal for little paws, and there's ample parking nearby. While facilities are limited, a short drive will take you to nearby amenities. We recommend keeping an eye on the tides and strong currents, which can make swimming hazardous. Longniddry Beach is a peaceful haven, particularly suited for anxious dogs who thrive in quieter, less crowded environments. Enjoy the tranquility with your furry friend!
