Longhoughton Beach
π Alnwick, Northumberland
About This Place
Longhoughton (also known as Howdiemont Sands and Burn Mouth) is a lovely remote beach made up of sand, shingle and rocks. At low tide it is wide and predominantly sandy, but much of the sand is covered as the tide comes in. The beach is an excellent spot to explore rock pools, fish, or take a peaceful walk in a picturesque setting. It is also known for providing first-rate fishing opportunities. --> Due to its remote location, there are no facilities at Longhoughton beach, however this also means it never gets busy. Parking is possible at the small village of Boulmer, along the coast, about half a mile south of the beach. There is a walking track that leads northwards to the beach from here, as part of a longer coastal path, offering excellent views of the wild coastline.Facilities such as pubs, shops and places to stay can be found in nearby Boulmer.
π‘ Our Take
Longhoughton Beach, nestled near Alnwick in Northumberland, is a true gem for dog owners. With its expansive stretches of fine sand, your furry friend can enjoy running around freely as dogs are welcomed year-round. The beachβs gentle waves make it a safe haven for enthusiastic swimmers. While parking is conveniently close, facilities are slightly distant, so pack essentials. We heartily recommend it for big dogs who love space and puppies discovering sand for the first time. A practical tip: be mindful of tides, as they can change swiftly. DogParkUK loves it for its natural beauty and dog-friendly vibe.
