Llanelli and Loughor Estuary Beach
📍 Llanelli, Glamorgan
About This Place
This sandy beach with mudflats is close to the Llanelli Docks, and is overlooked by a promenade. Cars can be left at the Millennium Quay Car Park on Traeth Ffordd, and then it is a short walk past the iconic Discovery Centre to the promenade. There is a café and kiosk to be found here. --> Heading northwest along the promenade, there is a link to the 13-mile long Millennium Coastal Path, a 13-mile long pedestrian walkway and cycle track. The Afon Lliedi (Loughor River) enters the sea southwest of the car park. An old bridge on the Loughor side of the estuary is a popular fishing spot. Visitors to the area need to be aware of dangerous quicksands and fast-incoming tides, and should take note of warning notices and tidal tables.
💡 Our Take
Llanelli and Loughor Estuary Beach in Carmarthenshire is a delightful haven for dog lovers, welcoming pups year-round. The beach’s expansive sandy stretches are perfect for enthusiastic zoomies or relaxed strolls, making it ideal for big dogs and puppies alike. With no restrictions, even anxious dogs can enjoy an undisturbed play. Parking is conveniently nearby, though it's advisable to arrive early on sunny days. While the estuary’s waters are a joy for playful pups, strong currents mean swimming isn’t recommended. Facilities are a short drive away, so plan ahead. For a genuine dog-friendly experience, DogParkUK cheers, “Llanelli's beach is a pawsome choice!”
