About This Place

The privately owned Lamorna Cove is set at the bottom of a lovely wooded valley somewhere between Mousehole and Porthcurno. The cove itself is very much devoid of trees and is quite a rugged granite affair. --> On the eastern slopes of the cove and around the high tide mark are lots of small granite boulders. These date back to a time when the cove’s main industry was quarrying. Lamorna’s now decaying pier was actually built to load this granite onto boats rather than to protect a fishing fleet like most would assume. Lamorna’s little beach is accessed by the slipway inside of the quay. As the tide drops a reasonable area of sand is revealed.

💡 Our Take

Lamorna Cove in Cornwall is a hidden gem perfect for dog owners seeking a peaceful retreat. Dogs are welcome year-round, making it an ideal spot for all furry friends, whether they're energetic puppies or older, anxious dogs who need a quieter environment. The soft, sandy beach is delightful for paws, though be cautious of potentially steep parking nearby. Facilities aren't right on the beach, so pack essentials. Its safe waters offer a chance for swimming adventures, but keep a watchful eye during high tide. Overall, Lamorna Cove is a tranquil haven for dogs and their humans to explore and enjoy together.
