Shoreham-by-Sea sits on the West Sussex coast approximately mid-way between Worthing and Brighton. --> There has been some kind of harbour here since Roman times.  Kingston Beach lies within this harbour, where the River Adur enters the sea. The beach itself is composed of shingle and gravel, with a number of wooden groynes sloping into the sea.  At low tide a small area of wet sand and gravel is exposed. Visitors come here to walk, fish and to enjoy watersports, although there is no zoning for watersports and no lifeguard cover. Behind the beach is a small area of sand, on which sits the Kingston Lighthouse, a working structure, originally built in the mid-19th century.  Behind the lighthouse runs the A259 and a row of houses.  The RNLI Shoreham lifeboat station is adjacent to the beach. The harbour is used by a mix of commercial and leisure vessels. At the entrance to the harbour, across from the beach are the remains of Shoreham Redoubt, a fort built in Victorian times on the orders of Lord Palmerston, to guard against the perceived threat of an invasion from the French.

Kingston Beach, Shoreham-by-Sea in West Sussex, is a fantastic year-round dog-friendly escape! The sand and shingle mix welcomes playful paws anytime, though be mindful of sharp stones. Parking is readily available nearby. While there aren't specific on-beach facilities, Shoreham town is a short walk away for cafes and amenities. Always keep an eye on the tides and currents as the water can be unpredictable. Kingston Beach is great for energetic dogs needing a run, though puppies or nervous dogs might find open space overwhelming during busy periods. Bring water and a towel, just in case!
