About This Place
Kilvickeon Beach is a lesser-known gem tucked away on the south coast of the Isle of Mull. This quiet and unspoiled beach features a beautiful stretch of white sand framed by rugged cliffs and rocky outcrops. Just offshore, mid-beach is an impressive island with basalt columns. Garbh Eilean, or โrough islandโ as it translates, is one of several islands of this name across the Hebrides. --> The beach is accessed via a walk from the ruins of Kilvickeon Church and graveyard, which dates back to the 12th century. The surrounding area is rich in wildlife, with frequent sightings of seals, otters, and seabirds. On calm days the turquoise, crystal clear waters are perfect for a paddle. The cliffs and rocky shores around Kilvickeon Beach are also great for exploring, with plenty of rock pools and caves to discover. For walkers, the area offers numerous trails, including coastal routes with stunning views to nearby islands like Iona and Staffa.
๐ก Our Take
Looking for a Cornish beach paradise for your furry friend? We at DogParkUK highly recommend Kilvickeon Beach! This sandy cove welcomes dogs all year round, making it perfect for off-season zoomies. Parking is limited, so arrive early! With no nearby facilities, pack plenty of water. The swimming can be deceivingly strong, keep a close eye on your pal, especially if theyโre still pups. It's ideal for confident swimmers and big dogs who love a good splash. Enjoy Kilvickeon - it's small but perfectly formed for a happy dog day out!
