About This Place
Set on the west coast of the Inner Hebridean Isle of Colonsay, Kiloran Bay is a breathtaking stretch of soft, golden sand. This wide, crescent-shaped beach is framed by rolling dunes and rugged hills, creating a remote and beautiful backdrop. It isn’t difficult to see why Kiloran Bay regularly features on list s of Scotland’s best beaches. --> Unlike most of Colonsay’s other beaches there are waves at Kiloran Bay. This makes it a popular spot with surfers, particularly during the autumn and winter months when the swell picks up. For those who prefer a quieter pace, the surrounding cliffs and hills provide excellent opportunities for hiking. The climb up Carnan Eoin is well worth it for the panoramic views of the bay and nearby islands of Jura and Mull. This part of the Hebrides is great for wildlife. You will be able to spot seals basking on the rocks, oystercatchers patrolling the shore, and, if you’re lucky, golden eagles soaring above the hills. There is little doubt Kiloran Bay’s remote location and unspoiled beauty make it one of Scotland’s most idyllic beaches, ideal for those looking to experience the Hebrides’ natural charm.
💡 Our Take
Looking for a beach where your furry best friend can roam free year-round? Although we don't have much information on this beach, **Kiloran Bay** sounds like a great shout! We do however recommend you always check local signage when you arrive. We cannot verify if it has soft sand that’s perfect for digging and running. Parking availability and nearby facilities are unknown, so plan ahead. We can't say how safe the swimming conditions are, so keep a close eye on brave dogs, especially puppies. This *could* be ideal for confident dogs who love exploring. Don't forget water and poo bags!
