About This Place

Kettleness beach is located in a remote cove just to the east of Runswick Bay. Access is difficult and involves a scrabble down a very steep and uneven path whilst hanging onto a rope. Suffice to say this sand and rock beach is not a family favourite! --> Kettleness is however well known amongst fossil hunters and is one of the most productive locations on the Yorkshire coast. Dinosaur and ammonite are regularly found along the foreshore and in the cliff. There are a few reminders of the areas industrial heritage dotted around the cliffs here from when they were worked for alum shale, jet and iron.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Kettleness Beach, nestled in the North Yorkshire coastline, is a fantastic year-round dog-friendly spot! With its mostly sandy terrain, it's great for pups who love to dig. Parking can be tricky, so arrive early. Remember there are limited facilities nearby so bring your water and poo bags. The currents can be strong; supervise swimming dogs carefully. This expansive beach is ideal for energetic dogs who need a good run. Best suited for confident swimmers and those who aren't bothered by seaweed – our tip is to check tide times so you can make the most of the low tide!
