About This Place
The sandy beach of Jaywick lies approximately mid-way between Clacton-on-Sea and Colne Point. Whilst not quiet by any stretch of the imagination it is never as busy as Clacton. --> The beach here has been subject to an extension and reconstruction project in recent years and now has a number of rock breakwaters which help keep the imported sand from being washed away.Β Facilities at Jaywick are fairly limited but there is a car park on Tamarisk Way and public toilets can be found at either end.Β There is also a narrow, walled promenade, popular with dog walkers to the rear of the beach. This stretch of the coastline features a number of Martello towers. These small round forts that were built during the 19th century to defend against attack from across the English Channel. Signs warn of soft mud and slippery, sharp rocks beyond Lion Point.
π‘ Our Take
Nestled in the charming county of Essex, Jaywick Beach is a delightful haven for dog lovers and their furry companions. This sandy expanse welcomes dogs year-round, offering plenty of space for energetic pups to romp and big dogs to stretch their legs comfortably. With easy parking nearby, it's a breeze to plan your visit. Keep in mind, swimming can be unpredictable due to changing tides, so always watch your curious dog around the water. Jaywick Beach is ideal for families with puppies or anxious dogs who will appreciate the beach's vast, inviting landscape and the serene atmosphere of this coastal escape.
