Howick Beach

About This Place
Also known as Rumbling Kern, this secluded cove on the Northumberland coast, has a rugged beauty and plenty of historical interest. --> Tucked away beneath low rocky cliffs, the beach gets its nickname from the distinctive rumbling sound created by waves crashing into the rocky outcrops that line shore.Β Once a haven for local fishermen and smugglers, the site is now a tranquil retreat frequented mainly by walkers and nature lovers. Nearby, you can visit the historic Howick Hall Gardens. Overlooking Howick beach is the Bathing House. Now a holiday rental, this house was built in the early 1800s by the 2nd Earl Grey, who was once Prime Minister. The house was built for the sole purpose of providing a base for the family to go bathing! But then with 16 children the Earl probably needed all the space he could get.
π‘ Our Take
Looking for a Northumberland beach that welcomes playful pups year-round? We at DogParkUK recommend Howick Beach! While details are sparse, its "dogs allowed" status makes it a winner. As a sandy beach without known restrictions, it's perfect for energetic dogs needing off-leash zoomies. Parking and facilities are unclear, so plan ahead. Prioritize swim safety β always supervise your dog in the water. Given limited information, ideal for confident, bigger dogs. Tip: research tides beforehand; access might vary, ensuring a safe and happy outing. Howick Beach promises a rewarding, tail-wagging adventure!
