About This Place

Four miles up the coast from Clacton, Holland-on-Sea is a much less developed part of the coast, and offers a quieter spot to come to get away from the crowds at Clacton.  This is a good place to come for long walks along the coast, where there is a chance of spotting a variety of migrant birds. The terrain is composed mainly of coarse, grainy sand.  --> Two promenades run alongside the beach.  Bicycles are permitted only on the upper promenade.  There are benches and a number of beach huts.  The sea defences along this stretch of the coastline have undergone significant development in recent years.  Newly constructed man-made rocky outcrops line the beach.

💡 Our Take

Looking for a truly dog-friendly Essex beach? We at DogParkUK wholeheartedly recommend Holland-on-Sea! Dogs are welcome year-round – a huge plus! The mostly sandy beach slopes gently, making it great for playful pups and even those first swims. Parking is available nearby, crucial for beach days. While facilities are limited directly on the beach, nearby Holland-on-Sea village offers options. Be mindful of tides, as they can change quickly. It's a perfect spot for energetic dogs who love open space and a good run. Big dogs will adore it! Remember poo bags and water, and have a tail-wagging time!
