About This Place

Hemsby Beach offers visitors nearly two miles of sandy beach, backed by large grassy sand dunes.  The dunes offer some shelter and make this a good spot for sunbathing, walking along the coast or playing in the sand.  The beach is fairly wide and does not get too crowded.  --> The good water quality and presence of a lifeguard during the summer season make Hemsby Beach suitable for swimming, surfing and canoeing. Looking out to sea from the beach, there are views over Scroby Sands windfarm.  On the beach are the remains of anti-tank blocks and a concrete bunker which once formed part of the World War II coastal defences in the area. Beach Road leads from the beach into Hemsby village.  Along this road can be found a range of amusement arcades, funfairs, cafes and other traditional seaside entertainments.  Hemsby Beach is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A few miles north of the beach, Winterton Dunes Nature Reserve is a good place to spot grey seals, and a variety of interesting bird life.

💡 Our Take

Hemsby Beach in Norfolk is a delightful haven for dogs, allowing them to frolic freely all year round. With its soft, golden sands, it's perfect for big dogs to stretch their legs, while cautious puppies and anxious dogs will appreciate the wide, open spaces away from more crowded areas. Convenient parking is available nearby, ensuring easy access. Although the beach is generally safe for swimming, always keep a close eye on your furry friend due to occasional strong currents. Remember to bring fresh water for your pup, as facilities are limited. A perfect spot for a joyous day out with your four-legged family.
