Hayling Island comprises a virtually unbroken five kilometres stretch of pebbles, from the Inn on the Beach to the funfair at Hayling Island. The beach has plenty of amusement arcades and fairground facilities, and while the shingle and pebbles mean it’s not the most relaxing spot for sunbathers, Beachlands is a popular choice for fishing, sailing, swimming, water skiing, and windsurfing.  --> Other facilities include a skate park, children’s play area, and volleyball court. The beach backs on to heathland and sandy grassy areas, with plenty of well-marked paths for those who want a stroll in natural surroundings.  Sheltered by the West Winner sandbar, this a good choice for swimmers. However, there is no lifeguard service at this beach. The seafront area is fairly accessible for those with pushchairs and wheelchairs, with boardwalks over the shingle which are wide enough for wheelchairs.  Facilities include toilets, beach huts, tourist information office, and plenty of choice of bars, cafes, kiosks, and restaurants. There is also plenty of car parking space, and the beach is easily reached by bus. There are open air markets and car boot sales throughout the year.
