Hauxley Beach
π Amble, Northumberland
About This Place
Located in front of the Hauxley Nature Reserve and Silver Carrs caravan park is this quiet stretch of sand. The beach is popular with dog walkers at low tide, when a good expanse of flat sand is exposed. --> Towards high tide the beach does shrink considerably. However, there is a footpath running above the beach, so it is traversable even on the highest of tides. The northern end of the beach is known as Low Hauxley and has great views to Coquet Island and lighthouse just off the coast. Thereβs plenty for birdwatchers here with both the island and the wetlands of Hauxley Nature Reserve providing a chance to see numerous migratory species. The harbour town of Amble is just over a mile to the north of Hauxley, and is a great place to grab a bite to eat, especially if you are a fan of fish & chips or ice cream!
π‘ Our Take
Northumberland's Hauxley Beach is DogParkUK approved for year-round sandy frolics! Your furry friends will adore the soft sand under their paws, with unrestricted access, and the freedom to swim (exercise caution, check tides first!). Parking is a breeze, making it easy to unload excited pups. While immediate facilities are limited, nearby towns offer cafes and shops. Ideal for dogs of all sizes and energy levels, its wide-open space is perfect for zoomies. Pro tip: Pack a towel for sandy paws when you leave! Hauxley is a fantastic choice, especially for energetic dogs needing a good run.
