Hastings Beach
📍 Hastings, East Sussex
About This Place
Hastings’ main beach backs right onto the seafront of this established seaside resort town so you are never far away from the town’s facilities and attractions. Backed by grand whitewashed Edwardian hotels and a two-layered promenade Hastings has all the credentials of a Great British seaside town. There is even a fine Victorian pier. --> But time has not been kind to Hastings since its heyday and the resort has all but lost its air of affluence. However, over recent years there has been a concerted effort to revive Hastings’ fortunes. Like many of England’s south coast beaches Hastings is predominantly shingle, which is held in place by a series of groynes. There is, however, a good expanse of sand as the tide goes out - ideal for beach games and even better for sandcastles.
💡 Our Take
Hastings Beach in East Sussex is a fantastic, dog-friendly spot! We at DogParkUK love that pups are welcome year-round to romp freely on its mostly shingle shore. Parking is readily available along the seafront, and the bustling town offers nearby facilities. Generally swim conditions are safe, but do keep a close eye on the tides and your dog's stamina. This beach is perfect for energetic dogs who enjoy fetch, but potentially less suitable for timid puppies due to the sometimes-busy atmosphere. Be aware the shingle can get hot in summer; bring water and check the ground temperature for sensitive paws.
