Gwbert (or Gwbert-on-Sea) is a tiny coastal village on the cliffs of Cardigan bay at the mouth of the Teifi river. Pronounced ‘Goobert’ it is named after an early wandering saint who is said to have made land here and taken shelter in a cave. --> The village is home to three little, rarely visited coves. The best of these is probably Morgan’s beach, which is shown on the map. This is the furthest out of Gwbert itself and consists of a modestly sized patch of sand surrounded by dark shale cliffs. Access is via steps carved into the rocks, which is actually easier than it sounds. Evelyn’s beach is the closest cove to the village and is situated just below the Cliff Hotel. Made up mostly of pebbles this is the easiest to get to but least appealing of Gwbert’s beaches. Cowley Beach consists of a narrow, rocky inlet with some sand. It lies between the other two coves and is again accessed by steps carved into the rocks on one side.  The Gwbert area is well known for its wildlife with a great variety of flora, fauna and sealife. As well as a fantastic array of coastal birds you may also be lucky enough to spot some of Cardigan Bay’s resident dolphins or even a whale.

Gwbert Beach, nestled in Ceredigion, Wales, is a fantastic year-round dog-friendly haven! With soft sand perfect for digging, it's a tail-wagging paradise. Parking is usually easy, though nearby facilities are limited so pack water. This beach is ideal for confident swimmers, but be mindful of tides and currents. It’s wonderful for dogs of all sizes, offering plenty of space to run. We recommend keeping puppies or anxious dogs on a long lead initially so they can gain confidence without feeling overwhelmed.
