Groomsport Beach
๐ Bangor, Gwynedd
About This Place
Groomsport is a small, attractive, sandy beach, backed by the residential part of the picturesque village of the same name. A promenade runs along the western end of the beach. --> A number of rocky outcrops ensure that rockpooling is a popular pastime on the beach, as are bird-watching, and walking. Parking is available next to the harbour to the west of the beach, which is reached down a gently sloping path alongside a grassy area, popular for picnics. Toilets can be found in the car park. Overlooking the harbour, there is a paddling pool, childrenโs play area, tennis courts, and Cockle Row Cottages, a small museum and popular attraction. Facilities such as shops, pubs, and places to eat can be found in the nearby village centre. The much larger town of Bangor is just 10 minutesโ drive to the east.
๐ก Our Take
Looking for a simple, dog-friendly beach escape near Ards and North Down, Northern Ireland? Groomsport Beach is a great option, where your furry pals can roam free year-round! The sand is lovely, perfect for paddling paws. Parking is available, but keep an eye out for local signage. While not packed with facilities, Groomsport village nearby has cafes and shops. Swim safety is key, as tides can change quickly; always supervise your dog. This beach is fantastic for dogs who enjoy a good run across open sand. We recommend it, particularly for dogs who don't need a lot of stimulation.
