About This Place

There are two piers in Great Yarmouth, the Britannia Pier and the Wellington Pier.  Both originals were built in the mid- 19th century but have since been replaced and modernised. Both piers are well worth a visit by those spending any time at this fine beach. --> This area of Great Yarmouth provides everything that you would expect from a lively British seaside resort. The beach itself is a vast expanse of excellent quality sand.  A lifeguard service operates during the summer months and the excellent water quality and clean, golden sands make this a popular destination for those fancying a dip in the North Sea or for families with young children who will enjoy playing with bucket and spades.  In summer a wide variety of entertainments are organised on the beach.  There are boat trips, football and volleyball matches and more. The nostalgic Britannia Pier gets very lively.  There is a performing arts theatre and a wide variety of arcades, rides and other entertainments on offer.  The Pleasure Beach, which opens for the season towards the end of March has an original 1932 roller-coaster together with traditional rides for young visitors as well as white-knuckle rides for older thrill-seekers.  The Pleasure Beach attracts over a million visitors annually.

💡 Our Take

Looking for a brilliant beach for your best friend in Norfolk? Great Yarmouth Pier Beach welcomes dogs year-round, making it paw-fect for off-season strolls! The sand is soft and golden, great for digging. Parking nearby can get busy, so arrive early. While lifeguard presence varies, always supervise swimming, especially with strong currents. Facilities are close to the pier. This beach is ideal for confident dogs who love open spaces and fetch, or senior dogs who would love to lounge near the beach. *DogParkUK tip:* Bring fresh water, the sea water can dehydrate your pooch quickly!
